Worked yesterday on a script to take screenshots of pages and do a diff comparison on them. This is to prevent major styling catastrophes down the line (hopefully), since it will also measure the difference between them as a percentage. Making an array and historical library now so that I can easily make these comparison with minimal effort. Finishing all this up today hopefully so that going forward I don't have to worry too much about major styling issues rippling out and being a thing.

I finished up the daily grant, feedback voting, moderator application and moderator guidelines pages yesterday. Today I am working on post tipping and logging, and if time permits, styling the MCP and the PM pages.
I've gotten quite good at using the ajax interfaces that are built into PHPBB at this point, and I set up a modal system to coincide with the above systems. The modal could use some styling too but for now its fine. All in all, I'm pretty pleased with the pace of progress being made right now. I think with the addition of a few more style touchups (specifically on areas that need it) not only will this site be fully responsive but it will be a prime candidate for becoming a PWA. I'd love to be able to offer some version of offline mode for those who are traveling and don't have immediate access to wifi.
I may also start auditing performance some more today.

Fixed a lot of little bugs and styling issues (admin hammer broke, modal re-style) and got the color wheel user-specific so that account swapping won't break it. Worked on refactoring some of the loginator and also made the support ticket detection a little better hopefully. Took care of some language variable stuff today as well.

This is a test paragraph of a new feature I just implemented that tracks word counts on the forum. It should also track word order. It will eventually become part of a targeting system for the NPC chatbots, so that they can be programmed to target most popular subjects. The NPC forum bit has its acp piece about 40% configured, and its listener for this event is firing correctly. The Most popular words page in the acp is also most of the way to completion. The remaining work is mostly on the controller page for the preliminary chatbot (a voluntary opportunity for users to engage with it), which will have its own incentives for interacting with it. I am optimistic that users will choose to engage with it if rewarded adequately, especially if it improves regularly with more conversation.

I finished up the new homepage controls recently. They now have their own ext and some automation on like recent announcements/recent posts and forum stats. I think long term the majority of that page will be automated. Right now, the ACP piece is done and the page itself is functional but not pretty, needs styling. I am optimistic that it will make my life way easier after the site launches as far as maintaining it. Editing one page in the admin should be way faster/simpler than editing the admin codes manually every time an update is necessary (especially since I will have a buffer between myself and syntax errors and such).

I've also cleaned up some styling issues lately.

With the advent of Lasria being available for registration...lots of things have turned up. I have spent the majority of today bug fixing but I think the worst of them have been squashed. New points max caps have been implemented for all the games, along with guest restrictions on playability for specific areas of the site. Lots of typos have been cleaned up, and an interesting bug where rank titles were showing up because minimum post count (set to 0 on all ranks) was being triggered for new users...so everyone was showing as if they were a Moderator. Other bugs were also cleaned up in various spots, but most were super minor. Let the breaking-bonanza continue!

Whew. I know it may have seemed quiet around here lately, but trust me...it has not actually been.
A lot of the stuff I've been working on are infrastructure and debug improvements, things you don't see much of or pay attention to but kind of matter a lot. I fixed a bug where friends were getting treated as ignored because of a dumb query I wrote, 2 bug with registration, went on a bot-killing spree (new sortable spambot countermeasure on registration), improved our posting spam detection scripts (so that we'll see fewer posts from bots hopefully), gave the chatbot a first pass improvement, improved our 404 logging (it was PMing me directly for each one, including anonymous so I was getting ~17k PMs a day), made a CLI tool for generating extensions smarter/faster with all the defaults I want and expect them to have, which means more cool features faster later...and a ton more. Those are just the larger items that have gotten fixed lately, but tiny stuff (like styling touch ups, auditing mobile responsiveness, running a pentest scan) have also been happening in the background. The "silent improvements" will continue for a while yet, not going to be focusing on big features/content for this site until I am confident that it is stable, secure, and as ship-shape as I prefer my systems to be. There might be some minor additions (such as new minigames) added soon depending on how bored I get of fixing bugs, but the bug fixing will likely take me at least another month or two before I am satisfied with where this site is at.

Super unproductive this last month...had some family visits, a terrible cold, just been a lot of things taking away time from Lasria.

But that ends tonight.

I am going to be working specifically to get rid of the crawlers that have posted (shouldn't take more than 20m) and working on either some new smilies or improving the profile customization system. Or both. Or something else entirely, but tonight is going to be at least a few dedicated hours of work on Lasria.
